Molekulare und morphologische Ansätze in mikroevolutionsbiologischen Fragestellungen bei Säugetieren. Taxonomischer Schwerpunkt sind Huftiere, insbesondere Hirsche, sowie Greifvögel. Forschungsgebiete umfassen Populationsgenetik, molekulare (meist intraspezifische) Systematik und Phylogeographie, Entwicklungshomöostase und Fluktuierende Asymmetrie, Naturschutzgenetik (conservation genetics) sowie Verbreitungsgeschichte von Säugetieren und Vögeln im Quartär.
Meine theoretischen Interessen sind Artkonzepte, die Grundlagen von Taxonomie und Systematik sowie Geschichte und Theorie der (Evolutions-)Biologie.
