Morphologische Veränderungen, phaenotypische Plastizität, Populationsdynamik und systematik von Meergrundeln (Gobioidei), Cypriniden (Cypriniformes) und Stichlingen (Gasterosteidae) in Relation zu Habiatswahl, Nahrungssuche und Raubdruck. Hauptaugenmerk gilt Skelettstrukturen die eng mit Nahrungsaufnahme und Schwimmen im Zusammenhang stehen sowie dem Seitenliniensystem. Der Fokus liegt dabei auf nah verwandten Gruppen, fossil und rezent, sowie auf Arten die eine hohe intrapsezifische Diversität, ökologisch und morphologisch, aufweisen wie zum Beispiel der Dreistachlige Stichling, Gasterosteus aculeatus.
