Search for meteorite impact craters: A mix of Sherlock Holmes detective stories and Indiana Jones adventures

Wednesday, 16. September 2020, 17:00 Uhr | NHM Behind the scenes
Guided tour with Ludovic Ferrière behind the scenes.

In the 1950s only a dozen of meteorite impact craters were recognized on Earth when today about 200 are known. In a "Back to the Future" tour, Dr. Ludovic Ferrière, curator of the meteorite and impactite collections, will take you from the Meteorite Hall to his office, tell you about a number of discoveries, including some of his own ones in some very remote areas, and he will also highlight what we have learned from these (newly) discovered impact craters.
The impact crater associated with the demise of the dinosaurs as well as some (possible) new impact craters on which Dr. Ferrière is currently working on will be some of the highlights of the tour.
