Live show – journey through the night

Astronomers show the current night sky and take you on a trip to various extraordinary places in universe, such as the rings of Saturn and Jupiter’s moons. Leave our solar system and pass the stars of the Milky Way at the speed of light or even faster! On occasion of the newly opened prehistoric exhibition halls an additional topic is added to the usual program: "The Stone Age sky”. Experience the changes in astronomic constellation caused by the precession-cycle of the Earth's axis and by the proper motion of stars in the course of millennia.

The Gold Cabinet

Objects from a period of five thousand years are shown in the new Gold Cabinet next to the renovated Prehistorical Showrooms. Gold is already being obtained since the 4th millennium B.C. The oldest find of middle Europe presented here is of that age: two golden discs from Stollhof (Lower Austria).
