  • 1976-1982 Ph.D.-thesis under supervision of Prof.R.Riedl and Dr.J.Ott; topic: "Biology of the burrowing shrimp Upogebia pusilla". Study of three populations in the Northern Adriatic.
  • 1983-1985 Working in the joint project P5059 of the Austrian Science Foundation (FWF) between the Institutes of Paleontology, Zoology and Geology of the Univ.Vienna on the topic "Actuopaleontological Investigations of Lebensspuren of the Shallow Sea" (principal investigator F. Steininger). Research activities in the Northern Adriatic (Italy: Laboratorio di Biologia Marina,Sorgenti di Aurisina; Yugoslavia: Marine Research and Training Center in Piran), the North Sea (Senckenberg Institute, Wilhelmshaven) and the Red Sea (Safaga, Egypt).
